This will be an interactive, hands-on introduction covering the basics of deploying a Rails application via Capistrano. The tutorial will be held via Campfire.
Only the basics of Rails deployment will be covered. Attendees may expect to learn:
Attendees will receive temporary shell access to a server and will actually configure and deploy a simple Rails application to that server.
If you have never used Capistrano before, but would like to learn how to deploy your Rails applications, this tutorial is for you. Advanced topics will not be covered, so if you're already comfortable with the basics, you should not attend.
The following is a tentative outline of the tutorial, and is subject to change.
Once your registration and payment have been received, you will receive an email with information regarding what you should have pre-installed before the tutorial begins. A few hours before the tutorial actually starts, you'll receive information about how to access the Campfire chat room, as well as the materials you'll need for the tutorial (including login credentials to the server and access to the demo Rails application).
The tutorial itself is expected to last a couple of hours, so please arrange for that period of time to be uninterrupted.
